Job Description:

Asbestos Surveyor – Southampton

Essential work. Trusted expertise. Done properly — every time.

Let’s be upfront — asbestos surveying isn’t just about completing surveys and filling in reports.

It’s about using your expertise to identify risk, protect people and give clients the confidence that their buildings are safe and properly managed.

At Lucion, we don’t see asbestos management as a tick-box exercise. We deliver accurate, reliable and defensible surveys that help clients make informed decisions — protecting people, buildings and projects across the UK.

We’re a purpose-driven, beyond-net-zero business working across multiple sectors worldwide, and we take pride in combining technical excellence with a professional, people-focused approach.

We’re currently looking for an Asbestos Surveyor to join our Hazardous Materials team in Southampton. This is a field-based role, working across a variety of commercial, industrial and public sector sites throughout the region.

If you value quality, accuracy and doing things the right way, you’ll feel at home here.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a varied, hands-on role where your surveying skills directly support safer buildings and better outcomes.

You will:

• Carry out asbestos management, refurbishment and demolition surveys across a range of client sites.
• Identify, sample and assess asbestos-containing materials accurately and professionally.
• Record detailed site information using our digital systems and produce clear, high-quality survey reports.
• Provide trusted technical advice to clients, contractors and project teams.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with HSG264, current legislation and Lucion’s quality standards.
• Build strong client relationships by delivering a reliable and professional service.

About You

You understand the importance of getting asbestos surveying right and take pride in delivering work that clients can rely on.

You’ll ideally have:

• BOHS P402 qualification (or equivalent RSPH qualification/Certificate of Competence).
• Experience carrying out asbestos management, refurbishment and demolition surveys.
• A strong understanding of HSG264 and current asbestos regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical reports.
• A full UK manual driving licence and the flexibility to travel across Southampton and surrounding areas.
• The ability to work independently while being part of a supportive and technically skilled team.

What You'll Get in Return

We look after our people so they can focus on delivering great work.

You’ll benefit from:

• £1,000 joining bonus for experienced Asbestos Surveyors who apply directly.
• Paid travel time as part of your 40-hour working week, typically worth £3,000–£4,000 annually, plus working away allowances where applicable.
• Healthcare Cash Plan, Techscheme vouchers and access to a reward platform offering wellbeing support, cycle-to-work benefits and discounts at over 800 retailers.
• Enhanced family leave, the option to buy additional holiday, ongoing training and development, flexible working and supportive managers who understand the realities of field-based work.

Why Lucion?

Because accuracy matters here.

Because your expertise is valued, not rushed.

And because you want to work for a business that takes safety, quality and people seriously.

If you’re an asbestos professional looking for a role where your knowledge makes a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

As part of our commitment to safety, trust and doing things properly, the successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check before joining the business.
