Job Description:

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

An excellent opportunity for an aspiring Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a busy commercial team working on live construction projects from pre-construction through to final account. This role offers genuine responsibility from day one, with the chance to develop core quantity surveying skills while supporting the successful delivery of residential and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure and price works from drawings and specifications.
• Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, valuations and commercial reports.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor quotations and tender returns.
• Monitor project costs against budgets and identify cost variances.
• Prepare, review and agree subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Process applications for payment and subcontractor payments.
• Maintain accurate cost records and commercial documentation.
• Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers on commercial matters.
• Support the commercial management of projects from inception to completion.

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to check and validate work accurately before submission.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Professional, organised and eager to learn within a commercial environment.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Previous experience within a quantity surveying, commercial or construction role, or a relevant qualification.

Desirable

• HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Experience using measurement or cost management software.
• Previous site-based construction experience, including trade backgrounds.
