Higher Level Teaching Assistant | Southampton | £100-£120 per day | ASAP Flexible Supply

Reeson Education is inviting candidates to register for our Higher Level Teaching Assistant talent pool in Southampton for current and upcoming primary school cover requirements in Southampton. Experienced higher-level support staff can register for suitable PPA cover, planned lesson delivery and targeted interventions. A Higher Level Teaching Assistant would take responsibility for leading teacher-planned learning while supporting pupils' progress and classroom routines.

Role Details

• Location: Southampton, Hampshire
• Pay: £100-£120 per day
• Start: ASAP bookings, subject to registration and safeguarding checks
• Setting: Mainstream primary schools, Key Stages 1 and 2
• Contract: Flexible PPA cover and short-term classroom assignments

Leading Learning and Interventions

• A Higher Level Teaching Assistant may lead planned whole-class sessions during authorised PPA or staff absence cover.
• The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions and adapt explanations to pupil needs.
• As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will monitor understanding and provide practical assessment feedback to class teachers.
• A successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant will establish positive behaviour expectations and support inclusive classroom routines.
• Prepare resources, collaborate with permanent staff and follow safeguarding requirements.

What We're Looking For in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

• Recognised HLTA status, relevant Higher Level Teaching Assistant experience or substantial school experience leading planned lessons and appropriate class cover.
• Good knowledge of the primary curriculum, intervention delivery and progress monitoring.
• Confidence leading groups, exercising judgement and communicating with teachers.
• Reliability, adaptability and strong safeguarding awareness.
