Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Field Manager / Operational Supervisor (Cleaning & Commercial Services)

Location: Southampton / Portsmouth area Southampton SO14

Pay Rate: £13.94 per hour

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (Full-Time) 37.5 hours per week

Position Type: Temp to Perm (Immediate Start)

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced, hands-on Field Manager to oversee and monitor commercial cleaning contracts across the Southampton and Portsmouth areas.

Working under the Commercial Services Manager, you will be responsible for driving standards, auditing cleaning operations, managing day-to-day staff performance, and ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety legislation. This role requires a blend of leadership, active site auditing, and direct operational cover when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Regularly audit commercial cleaning standards, report findings to the Commercial Services Manager, and ensure all contract specifications are met.
• Support and train frontline cleaning staff to maintain service levels and skill requirements.
• Cover cleaning duties directly in the event of unscheduled staff absences or planned holidays.
• Act as a main point of contact for clients, responding proactively to requests or service queries to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain, clean, and conduct weekly checks on the provided company vehicle while ensuring it is fully stocked with required supplies and equipment.
• Complete operational documentation, audits, and daily work plans in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Requirements & Skills

• Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is required for this role.
• Proven experience supervising staff or managing field operations within commercial cleaning or facilities management.
• A practical, proactive approach with the ability to handle last-minute staff absences and client change requests calmly.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to build effective working relationships with clients, managers, and frontline staff.
• Excellent organizational skills to prioritize daily field tasks and work independently.
• High standard of personal presentation, integrity, and dedication to exceeding client expectations.
